Fun in the sun

Photobucket
Today we went to a pool party and Sydney requested a couple of days ago that she and Dolly have new dresses for the occasion. This fun sheeting fabric reminds me of Lilly so I thought it would make a fun pool cover up. And Dolly can never be left out.
Sydney had a blast and Dolly enjoyed sitting on the towel just watching. A great day! Thanks Jen for inviting us!

Pretty in pink

This is a sweet little dress in pink floral pique that I just finished. I did couching on the collar, cuff and little pocket for some fun detail. I love how it looks on there and have lots of ideas for Sydney's fall wardrobe using this technique.

This little apron dress has to be my favorite pattern and have used it so many times. It is my go to pattern for little girls. I haven't found a little girl who doesn't look adorable wearing it. The puffed sleeves hit their little arms in just the right spot and the buttons on the back and the little belt give a sweet look to the back as well as the front. Because we all know that little ones don't stand still very long at least they can look cute running away from you!

This dress is for a customer who has a little girl who loves pink. I think this will do the job nicely!

Petite Fleur

Petite Fleur is the name of this lovely lawn fabric that I used to make this smocked dress for Sydney. It should twirl really well, which, of course, is all that is important these days. I have about 2 more smocked dresses I really want to get done this summer. I need to get going on them because I am starting to get that itch to start back to school clothes already!
I love the ruffles on the arms and the neck on this dress. So pretty and feminine. Now to decide on a bow for her hair tomorrow for church. And before you even think that Dolly gets a matching dress I must say I barely had enough fabric for this dress. I only have a peice of fabric 4 by 6 left over. So no Dolly dress or matching purse on this one. That's okay, with a dress like this I think she should be the star of the show!
Notice the sweet pink buttons. They have little white flowers on them. Very sweet! I have them in blue too. I think they deserve a pretty dress too. Back to the drawing board for my next project.

All dressed for church

Here is my little angel and Dolly all ready for church. Last night as I was kissing her good night for the 5th time she says to me rather matter-of-factly that Dolly needs a matching dress with us, and even a matching flower too. So I ran to the sewing room and made up a matching dress for Dolly. Sydney was so excited this morning when she woke up and saw it on the ironing board.
At church today we got lots of oooh's and aaaah's and we were loving every minute of it. It was so much fun! Sydney told me on the way home that we should always go to church in matching dresses! I can see a trip to the fabric store in my future for more matching fabrics for us! We'll be in trouble if she thinks Daddy is going to wear a matching outfit with us, but for now, I will relish in all this great Mommy and me matching. Isn't it wonderful when they want to be close to you.... I think I will frame this one and pull it out in 10 years when she is slamming her door at me and is in full teenage swing.

My new purse

I decided that I needed a new fun purse. I love it! I may have to make a couple more or even a shoulderstrap one to sell on our new Etsy site. But for now, this one is MINE!!! I may need a skirt to go with it...or a dress....hummmmmm the wheels are turning rapidly!!!

Well, I have gone and done it now!

I sew with a wonderful group of ladies and we have gone and jumped into the world of selling our lovelies on Etsy. We are calling ourselves Seams like Yesterday. Go and check out some of the wonderful creations we have come up with so far. I decided that I would think green for my first entry and do some shopping bags with their own carrying pouch. They should be up in a day or two.

wonderful flower

I love making these cute fabric flowers that came from this wonderful tutorial from Artsycraft babe. Here is mine on Sydney's new sundress.
I have been walking around my house looking to see what else might need one of these flowers! Hummmm.....

How would Lancer look with a large flower on his collar? I think he would love it!!!

Summertime is for Sundresses

I found this cute floral the other week and just knew that Sydney and I needed matching dresses out of it. Here is hers. I just love the flower on it! So Carrie Bradshaw of me!!! My dress is done too, but I am not happy with the fit. I am hoping to work on that in the next day or two and get my wonderful husband to take our pictures together. I am really loving all the Mother/daughter things this summer. Plus, this is my excuse to get some sewing done for me for a change.

Twirlly skirts for two!

I got this beautiful linen/cotton blend Dana Buchman print and fell in love with it. Sydney did too, so I made us some matching twirly hip skirts. I just put plain hot pink t-shirts with them and ta-da, we are set to go out to lunch! These skirts make a complete circle, so they are super twirly! I love it and on cool evenings you will find us in the backyard twirling around and giggling. I can see lots more of these in our future! I don't know who is more excited, her or me!
