Breakfast at my house

First, I have to say that I love to cook. I don't do it nearly as much as I would like to, but that is all going to change in 2009. I have a list of things I want to do more of and cooking is on the list. I will post my New Year's Resolutions when the time gets closer. Also, on my list, is blogging more. So.... Here I am slaving at the stove this morning to make my little one pancakes. I bought these fun shapes at TJ Maxx the other day and she has been loving it!
Of course, after she cuts them up and attacks them with sprinkles and powdered sugar they are unrecognizable! So good morning from my house to yours!

Christmas fun!

I don't think I have mentioned this before, but Sydney is a ham! She used to be afraid of the camera and ran every time I got near her to snap a new outfit on her, then one day that switched. Now she can be egged on to no end. She does the funniest moves and contorts her body in all these funky moves. Then is quiet for a minute and gives her signature princess pose. Here are a couple of funny ones from this Holiday season. Just thought they would give a quick laugh at the silly things little ones will do. And yes, I do plan on showing these in a slide show to all her suitors who come to the house. Hee Hee!

Happy Holiday!

Christmas Confections

This is the picture that SHOULD be on my Christmas cards this year, but I kept taking orders and doing fun outfits for Sydney instead of getting to work on this. Next year, I will do this one first and then do for others. One day I will learn!
As if I hadn't done enough with Flame red featherwale corduroy, Sydney wanted a red dress this year, so here is her sweet confection of a dress. I did a linen collar with this adorable tree and bow in shadowwork. I loved working with it and can see some more linen in my future. I made this collar detachable so the dress could be washed without this collar turning bright pink! The dress was going to be for a pinafore too, but then a friend gave me the wonderful idea of a slip peeking out of the bottom and away I went digging in my stash. I found this wonderful 6 inch swiss embroidery and then proceeded to order a total of 4 yards of it for the bottom of a yoke slip. I love how it makes the dress stand out and look like it could twirl for days!

Then, of course she needed a new bow and nothing would do but silk! So I took 2 yards of 2 1/2 inch silk ribbon and made Sydney one of her signature bows. Tada!

I was so pleased with myself for finishing before the school program and just in time to see Santa. Then as I was putting Sydney to bed last night she asked me where Dolly's dress was. So off I went back to the sewing room to make Dolly a matching dress and even had some small silk ribbon for her to have a bow too. Sydney was so pleased when she woke up and sitting right outside her room there was Dolly waiting for her in her Christmas dress!

Christmas customer outfits

These matching Christmas outfits have it all! They are in red featherwale corduroy, which feels like velvet and looks like it too. Then I did machine embroidered Christmas trees and satin stitched the trunks on them. Added some seed beads to look like ornaments. The plaid is a very soft and cozy brushed cotton. I smocked the baby's dress front and back and then wrapped them all up in piping and covered buttons in the cute Christmas plaid. The two year old deserved a whole different look. So he gets three decorated trees in an oversized pocket.
I love this style dress on little ones. In fact, I like this style dress for my little one too. So sweet. It has this cute patch of smocking on the back too which is so cute while the baby is being held they still look stylish. And so she totally matched I thought she would look cute in a Christmas tree right on her cute tushy!
Here is the whole ensemble. One week, four yards of red corduroy, and twelve covered buttons later and these little ones will be dressed to the Nines in their Christmas finery!

New addition to the family

Isn't it wonderful when something makes you this happy? That is pure joy on her face. I love it!

Ha! Had you foolled! Not that kind of new addition!

This is an early birthday present for Sydney. She named her Sally and she has been drug around the house all day. One of my cyber friends sent her for Sydney's 5th birthday.
